đ Are you fine on paper?
Last weekâs post struck a chord. So many people got in touch. People who, on paper, have a great job and title but also big financial responsibilities for their household.
Many say theyâre feeling a bit lost, demotivated, frustrated and not sure what comes next.
So last Friday, we ran a small trial session with six brilliant volunteers to explore what might help. Iâll be doing much more on this soon, but in the meantime, here are three things you could try THIS WEEK if youâve spent years working hard, managing politics, and realise youâve slightly neglected your external world.
1ď¸âŁ Volunteer your skills.
Try volunteering for something local, doing something either thatâs relevant to the job that you want and/or the skills you want to develop.
This weekend I MCâd the local Hursley 10k. If I were an accountant looking for a job I couldâve volunteered to do the books. If I wanted to become a personal trainer I couldâve done the warmup. And if I wanted to do more photography, like Nick Turner who is tagged, Iâd have turned up and taken some fantastic pictures.
2ď¸âŁ Sign up for an event.
Sign up to an event thatâs relevant to the industry or area that you want to explore or grow into. Catch up on the latest news and connect with friends old and new. Like seeing Joeli and Elliot at Women In Work.
3ď¸âŁ Add a bit of joy into every work trip or visit.
Whenever you go anywhere for work, make a little bit of time to catch up with somebody that you havenât seen for a while. Or meet someone for coffee that youâve been working with but havenât met in person yet.
If âFine on Paperâ resonates, please do let me and Elaine know so we can keep you updated.
