How AI is Screwing with Time
“So I’ve just done the data processing that usually takes three or four days in two hours — can I head off early?”
asks your junior, cheerily, at noon.
“Why are you charging me five figures for something you did in an hour?”
asks your client, less cheerily, after opening your invoice.
“Why aren’t you cutting costs by using AI?”
asks the CFO as the team leader hires an extra person to fact check the AI system the company bought at vast expense but which is proving to be terrifyingly unreliable.
⏰ We say we want to measure outputs...
But do any of us really mean it?
What do we do when someone finishes their three day project before lunch? When high value work becomes routine? And is AI really saving you time or is it adding problems?
If you didn’t see the Sky Segment from Sam Coastes about how his AI made up an entire podcast transcript that he had yet to upload and refused to back down when he challenged it, I will post a link.
What are you seeing?
