Always crashing in the same car

This week, Rachel Schofield was inspired by the Bowie song Always Crashing In the Same Car. She’s a Personal Development and Careers Coach and shares her wisdom on changing the car, the route, your driving style…

Her newsletter hit my inbox just as I returned from delivering my kids back to school after half-term—unusually promptly due to the clock change, with uniforms freshly washed and ironed—only to be told by the receptionist that they had an extra INSET day (teacher training for those outside the UK)…

😩 ARGHH!!!!!

This is a car I am not going to crash again. In fact, I have marked all future INSET days in red in the diary and plan to dedicate each and every one of them to something special and different.

(And I insist that you share your own stories of similar screw-ups to make me feel better.)

Next week

The big sick—how can you tempt those over 50s back to work?

Before you go, just flagging a few events that might be of interest:

15 November: I am in Dubai at the Informa HRSE conference talking about ‘Making the new world of work, work!’

24 November: I’ll be back at Randstad, the world’s biggest recruitment agency, for The World of Work: What on earth comes next?

Details of both on LinkedIn.
