When September feels heavy
Summer’s flown, kids are in real shoes and you’re either thrilled to be cracking on or steeling yourself to survive the 111 days til Christmas.
From all the interviews we did this summer, the trend is firmly towards the latter. Too many people told us they feel anxious, overwhelmed or flat about work. We’ll come back to why next week.
The good news is research from Wharton shows that we are up to 33% more likely to begin positive habits after resets. Of course January is the big one but September is the second reset peak, as evidenced by gym sign ups and attendance.
Which means that now is the moment to plan what a great autumn looks like. The sort that’s more fun with friends, has new adventures and brilliant TV rather than hiding under your electric blanket until the clocks change back again. However tempting.
On my list is a post-summer mini-break with Mr A and no kids, some half-term joy (specifics under negotiation), more art, a bridge competition and a whole new work-stream. Brought to life with an unusually serious and personal vlog.
Naturally, if you are really feeling it hard, you’re welcome to join me at CrossFit. I promise to make you look really good.
