How I overcame the fear of presenting

When I come off stage, people so often ask me how I do it—because they would ’RATHER DIE’ than talk on a stage.

I get it. I used to sweat, my mouth would go dry, I would talk far too fast (yes, I know I’m still too fast sometimes), and my voice would get very high. But I broke it down and figured it out. And you can too.

A few things that helped me and may help you:

😴 This sounds harsh, but notice how low the bar is!

💥 Don’t be afraid to be interesting.

🙋🏻‍♀️ Same for audience engagement: a show of hands or a few comments changes a room.

ℹ️ Stick to what you know in terms of content.

☝🏻But don’t go too deep and complex: pick one, two, max. three points.

💃 Stick to who you are: never dress as someone else for the occasion!

🍰 Precisely no one is as interested in you as you imagine; they’re probably thinking about cake.

But most importantly, and as for most things, the more you do it, the better you’ll get.

On the vlog are some more examples, plus my TV and podcast joys of the week.

Next week

I am MC-ing a two-day conference for LinkedIn and will be extracting the best insights and learnings for you. If you are coming along, please come and say hi.

See you!

Christine
